Privacy
Your work stays on your device.
Last updated 17 August 2026
Arcs is built so that we never receive or see your data. Your recordings, notes, files, and the intelligence Arcs draws from them are processed on your device. There is no server that reads your content.
On-device by default
Everything you bring into Arcs — voice recordings, transcripts, typed notes, and files you add — is stored and processed on your device. Transcription and the AI that turns your material into Reads and decks run locally, using Apple's on-device models and a model Arcs downloads to your device on first launch. Audio never leaves your device. Arcs' remote inference path is disabled in the app; your content is not sent to Arcs or to any third-party AI service for processing.
iCloud sync is optional
If you turn on sync, your arcs are stored in your own private iCloud (Apple's CloudKit), tied to your Apple ID and governed by Apple's privacy policy. This is Apple's encrypted storage — Arcs never receives or sees it. If you leave sync off, your data stays only on your device. You can turn sync on or off at any time in Settings.
Diagnostics we do collect
To keep the app stable and improve it, Arcs may send anonymous diagnostics: crash reports, performance measurements, and basic product-interaction events, along with a random install identifier that is not linked to your identity. This is not tracking, is not sold or shared with data brokers, and never includes your content — your notes, recordings, transcripts, and documents are not transmitted. On App Store installs this diagnostics path fails closed by default.
Payments
Subscriptions and purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Arcs never receives or stores your payment details.
Permissions
- Microphone — to record voice, on your device. Recording only happens when you start it.
- Notifications — optional, on-device only (for example, a reminder at a meeting's start time). No push messages are sent from a server.
No tracking, no ads
Arcs does not track you across apps or websites, shows no ads, and contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
Deleting your data
Deleting an arc removes it from your device (and from your iCloud, if sync is on). Deleting the app removes its local data from that device.
Children
Arcs is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date above.
